Apply For Residency

Conditions of Residency - please read carefully

Victoria Park Lodge is not able to accommodate residents who are in need of personal or hospital care. As a basic condition of admission, the resident must be able to care for himself/herself either with or without the services of the Home Care Program. If Home Care or family members are unable to provide sufficient care, you will need to find other suitable housing. Victoria Park Lodge will work with the Home Care Program to ensure a safe and healthy environment for each resident.
If a resident becomes unable to remain at Victoria Park Lodge due to medical/health reasons, relatives and/or guardians will be required to cooperate by finding a suitable facility to relocate the resident.
Residents and/or their families are required to give Victoria Park Lodge the names and numbers of contact persons whom will be called in the event of an emergency. Victoria Park Lodge staff members are not trained in lifting techniques and therefore are not obligated to lift or pick up residents who have had a fall. To do so could cause serious injury to both the employee and the resident. In the event that a fall occurs we will call the people on the contact list and have them make a decision on what course of action should be taken, whether it is to come down and pick up the resident on their own, or to call an ambulance. If a contact person cannot be reached, or it is an obvious emergency, Victoria Park Lodge staff members will call an ambulance. The resident and/or their family will be responsible for all ambulance costs.
Victoria Park Lodge is not responsible for providing medical care in any way. This includes distribution of medications; help with getting in and out of beds or chairs, help getting to the bathroom, dressing, bathing, giving rides to appointments or anything that is outside the scope of the assisted services mention. If a resident is at risk of wandering outside the building, it is the responsibility of the family to stay with the resident or to find other suitable housing as Victoria Park Lodge does not lock the doors from the inside. Arrangements to pick up mail will be the responsibility of the resident. VPL staff will not pick up or deliver resident mail. If a resident requires this kind of extra help, it must be provided by the resident’s family members, hired help (at the resident’s expense) or by “home care”.

Tenants assume responsibility for expenditures of a personal nature, for supplying their own furniture and for maintaining their room in a neat, safe, clean and comfortable condition.

Pets are not allowed at Victoria Park Lodge.
Smoking is not permitted in Victoria Park Lodge

When a resident ceases to occupy a suite, it is expected that the resident’s family and or guardian will leave the suite clean and ready for the next tenant.

Victoria Park Lodge recommends that tenants purchase content & liability insurance. This can be purchased locally for approximately $100.00 per year.

Victoria Park Lodge kitchen staff provide meals every day to our residents. Because of the limitations of our kitchen, only minor variations can be made to meal plans such as offering sugar free items. We are not capable of providing individual diet plans. Residents need to self-regulate their choices within the range of food that we provide. For those residents who have very specific diet restrictions or needs, Victoria Park Lodge may not be a suitable choice for residency.

Residents of Victoria Park Lodge are welcome to use all parts of our facility; the deck, dining room, activity room, spa tub room, etc. However, for health and safety reasons, there are some restricted areas. For example, the kitchen, utility room, storage room, and anything in the basement are Staff Only areas.
